I'm Not the Only One

Since I made my experience public, other people have used this site's own contact form to send me their experiences with Robinhood. I am posting them here exactly as they were written — nothing added, nothing changed, not a single word of mine put in their mouths. These are real messages from real people. More will be added here as they come in.

Dear fellow retirees,

Let me tell you about my recent experience with Robinhood! I invested my life savings into it, and I must say, it has been nothing short of a disaster.

You see, I was allured by their enticing deposit bonuses, but little did I know that these bonuses would be the only thing I'd ever receive from them. As soon as I deposited my hard-earned money, they restricted my account! I was left in limbo, with no one to guide me through the process. To make matters worse, they went ahead and canceled my credit card, causing significant damage to my credit score. All I wanted was to have a single representative reach out to me, but alas, their customer service is virtually nonexistent.

As the days turned into weeks, I continued to try contacting them through the app, but my efforts were futile. I never received any assistance or updates regarding my account. It was as if they had completely forgotten about me and my life savings.

And now, I'm left with nothing but a warning to others to stay clear of this dangerous investment platform. Don't invest your hard-earned money into Robinhood; invest it elsewhere. It's the only way to avoid what happened to me.

As a new investor, I was eager to try out Robinhood exchange's deposit bonus system. Unfortunately, the whole experience left me feeling frustrated and disillusioned. The process of receiving the bonus felt unnecessarily complicated, and the bonus amount was barely enough to cover my initial deposit fees.

To make matters worse, I found their customer service to be lacking in both responsiveness and empathy. I tried to reach out to them for assistance, but it felt like I was talking to a wall. Their representatives were unhelpful and dismissive, which only added to my mounting frustration.

What really pushed me over the edge was the way they treated my bonus funds. I was shocked to find that they were trying to restrict my access to the bonus money without any warning or explanation. It felt like they were trying to claw back the bonus without any regard for the investor's best interests. I had to fight tooth and nail just to keep my account unrestricted and to retain the bonus that was promised to me in the first place.

This whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth.

They were happy to advertise the bonus when they wanted my assets. Once the transfer was complete, suddenly everything became complicated.

Too many transfers? Problem.
Crypto activity? Problem.
Talk to support too aggressively because you're frustrated? Problem.

Maybe none of those things actually caused it, but that's what it felt like from where I was sitting. The experience made me wonder whether they were looking for reasons to pay the bonus or reasons not to.

Very disappointed.

I've been investing for over 30 years and have dealt with many brokerages. This is the first time I've felt this uncertain about whether a promotion would actually be honored after I completed everything that was asked of me.

The money was transferred. The requirements appeared to be met. Yet there always seemed to be another review, another delay, another explanation.

I don't mind waiting. I do mind feeling like the rules are changing after the fact. That's not how trust is built, especially with retirement accounts.

I honestly joined because of the transfer bonus. Everything looked straightforward at first. Then once my money was already there, it suddenly felt like there were all these extra reasons why it might not qualify anymore.

Maybe there's an explanation, but from my side it felt like every time I got one answer, another answer would show up from a different support person. After a while I stopped feeling like a customer and started feeling like I was arguing a court case over a promotion.

Wouldn't do another transfer here.

A Pattern, Not a Coincidence

Read these back to back and the same shape appears in every one: a bonus or promotion is dangled to bring assets in, and once the money has arrived, the reasons it might not count start to pile up. Different people, different ages, different amounts — the same experience.

This is exactly what happened to me, and it is why I built this site. If you are considering moving your money or your retirement savings onto this platform because of a promotion, I would urge you to read these accounts first, and to think very carefully before you do.

Did This Happen to You Too?

If you have had a similar experience with Robinhood, I want to hear it — and, with your permission, add your words here so the pattern is impossible to ignore. You can leave your name off entirely and stay completely anonymous. Only the message is required.
